PERFORMANCE

Endurance Performance

I’m fascinated with how far I can push my mind and body, and watching an audience from a privileged location. During endurance performances I become “object”, and the interactions that follow intrigue me. Social regulations break down solely between myself and the viewer (not even those surrounding us). I am physically engaged with, I become a curiosity, I am ignored, and I become part of conversations people had no intention for me to hear.

The mental masochism and voyeuristic element on both the side of the audience and my own becomes comfortable. When I stop and walk away it is unsettling for the viewer as I revert back from object and my humanity is restored to them; and myself.
